California
White Water Cambria
If you're looking to plan a relaxing weekend getaway, a trip to California's central coast is exactly what you need. Staying a couple nights at White Water will bring you back in touch with nature and give you the space you need to reset. Located right on the coast along Moonstone Beach, White Water is a cozy lodge just waiting for you to arrive. In the morning you can enjoy locally baked pastries, fresh squeezed orange juice and a cup of hot coffee from the complimentary picnic basket that gets delivered right to your cottage's door. Take a morning stroll along the multi-mile boardwalk that hugs the beach bluffs. Then during golden hour you can enjoy a glass of wine on their heated patio while you wait for the sun to set and listen to the waves crashing along the shore.
I spent a few nights here with some of my closest friends and Cambria quickly became one of our top favorite coastal towns in all of California. One day we grabbed coffee and breakfast burritos in town, then drove 30 minutes up the coast where we stumbled upon an elephant seal beach - which was definitely a sight to see! For miles and miles all you could see were elephant seals playing in the sand and sunbathing. It was such a unique experience! On our last day we went for a walk along the coastal boardwalk then drove North along the Pacific Coast Highway through Big Sur and Monterey and took in the stunning coastline views as we made our way back to San Francisco. |
GETTING THERE
Cambria is located right on the central coast of California, so you will definitely need a car to get there. If traveling from out of state, I would suggest flying into San Luis Obispo (SBP) Airport, renting a car, then driving through Morro Bay and up the coast (about a 1 hour drive). If you're up for an incredibly scenic, but longer roadtrip, you could fly into either San Jose (SJC) or Monterey Regional Airport (MRY), rent a car, then drive through Big Sur and fly out from San Luis Obispo.
WHERE TO EAT
BREAKFAST & COFFEE
Our favorite spot for coffee and breakfast burritos was Lily's Coffee House (Lily's Coffee House, 2028 Main St, Cambria, CA 93428). Here we met the friendliest locals and enjoyed some seasonal lattes.
HAPPY HOUR
I recommend spending happy hour in White Water's lobby or on their patio near a fire pit. Grab a bottle of wine or a mocktail and watch the sun set over the Pacific Ocean. There's no better view that that from the hotel itself.
DINNER
There are only a few spots for dinner in the small town of Cambria, but that doesn't mean they aren't great. We went to grab dinner at Robin's Restaurant (4095 Burton Dr, Cambria, CA 93428) and it blew us away. Every dish was full of flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. Plus, the entire restaurant is filled with the most incredible greenery, including a tree that has been growing around the building for ages.
