Santa Fe
El Rey Court
Located just a few minutes from downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico you'll find El Rey Court - an authentic New Mexican boutique hotel that is tastefully decorated in elevated Southwestern style. The amount of time and effort that went in to designing each room on this property is tangible and it makes you want to cozy up and stay a while. On their infamous adobe fireplace mantle you'll find the quote "where fast lives slow down," and it seems this is their exact motive for all of their guest's stays.
My most favorite room in the hotel was definitely their lobby and the artwork found on each wall. The hotel also has a cozy courtyard, a lively pool club, and a bar on site that even locals rave about. Grab one a margarita at La Reina one night, the bar on site, and stay a while - you'll be sure to meet some local New Mexicans.
First Thursdays
When we arrived on a Thursday night, I was pleasantly surprised to find that during certain times of the year they do "First Thursday" nights which include live music and a handful of artisans selling their goods. The night I was there I was surprised to see an artist that I have been a fan of for a long time, Erika Layne, and I got to chat with her for a while which is definitely a highlight from my trip.
Other Hotel Perks
When the weather is nice you can spend an afternoon at El Rey's infamous Swim Club. A lively poolside area that serves food and drinks to guests and apparently it can become quite the party! |
The bar on site, La Reina, is known for their margaritas and their mezcal drinks. Grab a drink here during your stay! |
Every day from 7am - noon, the Turquoise Trailer can be found out front where you can grab authentic New Mexican breakfast burritos and coffee! |
Location + Getting Around
El Rey Court is located just 7 minutes from downtown Santa Fe. It was super easy to call an Uber to get to and from different places.
We rented a car for half of our trip and I would actually recommend doing that especially if you are flying into the Albuquerque airport because Santa Fe is about an hour drive away. If you have your own car you can also venture up the mountain to see the yellow Aspens in the fall and winter seasons. El Rey Court has parking on site so if you do rent a car, you'll be able to park it right outside your room!
